As of Saturday October 7th 2023, the beloved Mohawk Bend closed its doors forever. They were among the first in the Echo Park neighborhood to offer craft brews with excellent food and vegan options. Possibly the best pizza I've ever had, excellent garlic aioli fries and hummus. Too many newer places popped up and the pandemic did a number on them. They just couldn't get the same crowds they used to. Echo Park has lost a wonderful watering hole.

It's hard to see Mohawk Bend go! Over the last 12 years, it's been the staple of how vegan food should be presented and taste to the greater Los Angeles area, and they will be truly missed. This restaurant has hosted some of my most cherished memories and I hope to keep the memory and taste of Mohawk Bend with me moving forwards. I went back for one last bite and got the classic buffalo wings and the Mental Vacation cocktail, as they've been long time favorites. Again, they never disappointed with the quality of the dishes. The venue held a quiet yet colorful ambiance, and the service was friendly as always. Mohawk bend will be missed!

There is a lot to say and not say about this place. The range of reviews here will fill in any gaps in my take below. I wrestled with the star rating (something I really don't think is adequate for evaluating a complex venue, but, we are stuck with it on Yelp). It should be a little less than a 5 simply because the street presence and the first patio are in desperate need of a refresh. They look shabby and sad -- I cannot imagine anyone driving by and stopping in. You have to seek this place out based on its descriptions and reviews. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed it. I was somewhat prepared for the interior and the menu before we went and picked it deliberately. Gastropubs are on the upswing in Los Angeles, and they are usually boisterous and fun, so I do look for them. I am also eating my way through Echo Park, so Mohawk Bend was on my list. We had a little trouble identifying parking but side streets are the way to go, not the ones on the north side of Sunset, the ones to the south. It was metered but free on Sunday afternoon, a plus. Once inside, and past the first space (covered patio), the interior two rooms are wonderful, warm, welcoming, and in the case of the innermost room, astonishingly grand. We chose to eat there with the few other tables occupied by quiet people so we knew it would be a peaceful time. Games were on in the pub area and that is another room we would try, next time. The menu is good for a vegetarian/vegan and we had no problem putting our meal together. We skipped coffee and dessert, because we had another stop afterward, but did have stouts. Both could have been more full-bodied, rich, and I like them chocolatey too (like a Porter, for example), but since I rarely drink at all, hardly ever sip beer, I only like it dark and sturdy. The food was exceptionally tasty, unusual, and well made. I would return for the quality and the quirky, substantial, industrial atmosphere. Our room sported a giant fireplace, lots of plants, brick walls, skylights in the clouds above, and a feeling of being outside. It was warmly decorated to the point that everything had my favorite orange glow, including me, lol. I toned some of that down in my pictures here. The service, provided by the agile, friendly Jordan, was perfect. She was always there when we needed her, as if by telepathy and everything came out piping hot and quickly. There are substantial china plates, heavy silverware, sparkling glasses, a tall frosty decanter of cold water, and both a linen and paper napkin. There was music on that suited the vibe and we could hear people in the bar area, with the giant pizza oven, btw, laughing and enjoying their afternoon. All in all, it was edgy, upbeat, clean, gourmand, and delightful. We will definitely return to savor it all over again.

We (26F) (26F) went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was very empty which we personally liked because we wanted a chill place to have a drink. We stayed outside and had 2 of the same drinks each, the Mental Vacation, very strong and delicious. We didn't get anything to each cause we wanted to feel the drinks hehe Overall it lives up to the hype if you want to go to a chill place to have drinks and chat with your friends

Love Mohawk bend , they are super tasty and consistent I've been going here for years and it's just as good every time. Have never had a bad experience and their menu never disappoints. Easily one of the best veggie burgers around, perfection !

This was a solid stop! I had the chicken sandwich, fries, churros and a berry cider. The chicken sandwich was huge but delicious. Overall, it was very tasty but a little dry -- would've appreciated more sauce. The fries were delicious. The churros were perfect. It is also important to note that the sandwiches don't come with sides, which makes the price a little steep for what you actually receive. I'd love to come back and try some pizzas and drinks!

I went here for brunch at a friend's recommendation with my dodgeball team. It's a great place for a group brunch because there is a large open area with some long tables for seating. Everything we ordered was delicious! We started with the buffalo cauliflower - amazing! If you want a meatless appetizer for everyone at the table to enjoy, it is a great option. The cauli is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and the sauce is the delish. For my main dish I got the avocado toast and I added 2 eggs for extra protein! My friend got the chilaquiles which she also said was amazing. The drinks were refreshing and I just loved the open room atmosphere with all the plants and there was even a fireplace. It's definitely a fun place for brunch with lots of yummy options, I would definitely return to try their dinner!

One of my favorite restaurants in Silverlake. Such a cute spot to hang with friends and grab a few drinks and bites. Very cozy with lots of seating available. I like the dine-in area differs from the bar due to the brick walls and plants. I have tried a variety of dishes now and can't decide which one is my favorite. I can tell you one thing for sure that the crab cakes ($14) are my FAVORITE. I still think about the texture and flavor because it is difficult to make VEGAN crab cakes that taste delicious with a creamy sauce. The plating looks boujee. I think it came with four pieces, so it is a little pricey compared to the portion size. The buffalo cauliflower wings were delicious. The buffalo sauce was a little spicy, but it paired perfectly with the blue cheese dressing. Very creamy. The baked potato pizza was mindful! I was surprised by how delicious it tasted. Super creamy and light to eat. The fries are so crispy. I can't even describe how yummy it was with the burger. I loved the chips too, but do not HESITATE to order the fries. I also liked the ginger vinaigrette from the soba noodle plate and thought that it was well-balanced and refreshing to eat. Unfortunately, I haven't tried any of the desserts, but the sweets on the menu make my mouth DROOL.

Parking: I parked in the lot across the street with chipotle and what not, it seemed to be two hour parking but there is parking in the nearby streets as well. First time here and they have many items in the menu that is vegan friendly. I shared the bourbon burger and the baked potato pizza. One thing to note is the burger does not come with any sides, it's just the burger. The burger itself though was very juicy and flavorful. I would totally recommend though you may wanna add on a side. The pizza was large and can easily be sharable, it came with 6 slices. The baked potato pizza was pretty heavy but it was delicious, creamy and the crust was thin and crunchy. Overall this place has a nice atmosphere and the food is quite tasty. It's a tad on the pricey side but I still think it's worth it! Great place to go if you are vegan.
